Obedience is the premier budget mercenary weapon runeword in Diablo 2 Resurrected. Created with Hel + Ko + Thul + Eth + Fal in any 5-socket polearm or spear (Patch 2.4+), it provides exceptional damage and crushing blow for Act 2 mercenaries at an extremely affordable price.

Mercenary Powerhouse

Obedience delivers massive offensive power: +370% Enhanced Damage, 40% Chance of Crushing Blow (melts bosses), -25% Target Defense, and 30% Chance to Cast Level 21 Enchant When You Kill an Enemy (adds significant fire damage and attack rating). Defensive bonuses include +200-300 Defense, All Resistances +20-30, 40% Faster Hit Recovery, +10 to Strength, +10 to Dexterity, and Requirements -20%. Also adds 3-14 Cold Damage and -25% to Enemy Fire Resistance.

Best Bases and Usage

Use ethereal elite polearms for maximum damage: Cryptic Axe (best overall), Thresher (fast attack speed), or Great Poleaxe (high damage). All runes drop from Hell Countess. Pair with Treachery armor for IAS and life leech helm (Tal's, Vampire Gaze, Andariel's Visage). Eventually replaced by Infinity or Insight, but Obedience remains competitive for non-casters.
