Treachery is one of the best budget armor runewords in Diablo 2 Resurrected, particularly for mercenaries. Created with Shael + Thul + Lem in any 3-socket body armor, it provides massive attack speed and the powerful Fade buff.

IAS and Fade Powerhouse

Treachery's +45% Increased Attack Speed is the second-highest IAS on any armor (behind 4-socket jeweled armor), making it essential for reaching attack speed breakpoints. The 5% Chance to Cast Level 15 Fade When Struck grants +60% All Resistances, 15% Physical Damage Reduction, and 79% Curse Duration Reduction for 288 seconds (nearly 5 minutes). This Fade buff persists even after switching armor. Additional mods include +2 to Assassin Skills, 25% Chance to Cast Level 15 Venom on Striking, +20% Faster Hit Recovery, Cold Resist +30%, and 50% Extra Gold from Monsters.

Best in Slot for Mercenaries

Treachery is considered BiS armor for Act 2 mercenaries (especially with Infinity) due to IAS and Fade survivability. Use ethereal elite bases like Archon Plate. Players can proc Fade by standing in fire, then switch armor while keeping the buff. Cheaper and often better than Fortitude for mercenaries.
