Rain is a Druid-specific runeword in Diablo 2 Resurrected created with Ort + Mal + Ith in any 3-socket body armor. Introduced in Patch 1.11, it provides +2 to Druid skills and defensive utility focused on mana sustain, but is widely considered a waste of a Mal rune.

Druid-Focused Stats

Rain offers +2 to Druid skills, +100-150 to mana, 15% damage taken goes to mana, and lightning resist +30%. The 5% chance to cast level 15 Cyclone Armor when struck provides occasional defensive buffs, while 5% chance to cast level 15 Twister on striking adds minor offensive utility. The magic damage reduced by 7 helps against casters.

Why It's Rarely Used

Rain's fundamental problem is opportunity cost. Skin of the Vipermagi provides +1 to all skills, faster cast rate, and resistances for far cheaper. Smoke offers superior resistances for budget runes. For a Mal rune, Druids are better served saving it for other runewords or trading for superior gear. The lack of faster cast rate—critical for caster Druids—is a major weakness, while melee Druids need offensive stats that Rain doesn't provide.

Limited Applications

Rain might serve as a temporary armor for Elemental Druids in late Nightmare difficulty if the mana sustain is desperately needed, but even then, better alternatives exist. Most Druids skip Rain entirely, making it one of the least-used class-specific runewords.
