Enigma
Body Armor
Enigma is the most game-changing runeword in Diablo 2 Resurrected, created with Jah + Ith + Ber in 3-socket body armor. Granting +1 to Teleport to any class, this runeword fundamentally transforms gameplay by enabling universal mobility that defines the endgame meta.
Teleport: The Game-Warping Skill
The Teleport skill provided by Enigma is not charges—it's the actual skill that Sorceresses use, available to any class. This changes everything. Melee classes like Hammerdins, Summoner Necromancers, and Zealots gain instant positioning, allowing them to skip dangerous packs, reach bosses instantly, and farm with efficiency previously exclusive to Sorceresses.
Teleport enables strategies impossible without it: fast Chaos Sanctuary runs where Paladins teleport directly to seals, unique monster hunting where players skip trash mobs entirely, and rapid traversal that cuts farming time in half. The ability to instantly escape danger or reposition in PvP makes Enigma invaluable across all content.
Supporting Stats Excellence
Even without teleport, Enigma's stats are exceptional. +2 to All Skills boosts every build's damage and utility, while +45% Faster Run/Walk is the highest FRW bonus of any armor, crucial for Amazons and other non-teleporting scenarios.
The character-level-scaled +0-74 to Strength (Based on Character Level) provides up to 74 strength at level 99, allowing players to meet gear requirements without investing stat points. This enables maximum vitality allocation for survivability. +750-775 Defense with additional character-level scaling (+0.75 per level) creates solid base defense.
Increase Maximum Life 5% and Damage Reduced by 8% provide defensive layers, while 15% Damage Taken Goes to Mana helps sustain mana pools during combat. The character-level-scaled +1-99% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items reaches 99% MF at level 99, making Enigma excellent for magic find builds.
Universal Build Adoption
Enigma is best-in-slot for Hammerdins, Summoner Necromancers, Summoner Druids, Fist of the Heavens Paladins, Singer Barbarians, and most caster builds. Even Sorceresses sometimes use Enigma for its superior MF and strength bonus over alternatives, despite already having native teleport.
The only builds that avoid Enigma are those requiring specific armor bonuses (like Lightning Sorceresses using Chains of Honor for resistances) or Amazons with exceptionally slow cast rates where teleport becomes inefficient. Shapeshifting Druids cannot teleport while transformed, limiting utility for Werewolf and Werebear builds.
The Resistance Trade-Off
The significant downside of Enigma is zero resistance bonuses. In Hell difficulty with penalty to resistances, players must cap resistances through other gear slots—rings, amulets, boots, and small charms. This becomes expensive when best-in-slot weapons (like Grief, Crescent Moon, or Death's Web) also lack resistances, forcing reliance on +5 all resistances small charms.
Extreme Rune Cost
Requiring both Jah and Ber runes, Enigma is among the most expensive runewords in the game. Neither rune drops from Hell Countess or Hellforge, requiring natural farming in high-level areas or trading. On single-player, Lower Kurast super chest farming (Players 8) can yield Sur runes to cube into Ber and eventually Jah, though this requires thousands of runs.
The investment is worth it—Enigma fundamentally changes how efficiently characters farm, enabling builds that would otherwise struggle to compete with Sorceresses. For many players, crafting Enigma marks the transition from mid-game to endgame.
Best Bases
Archon Plate offers maximum defense with manageable strength requirements (103), making it the most popular choice. Mage Plate requires only 55 strength, ideal for casters minimizing strength investment. Dusk Shroud provides excellent defense-to-strength ratio with superior aesthetics. All elite light armors (including Wyrmhide, Scarab Husk, Wire Fleece, Great Hauberk) avoid movement speed penalties—critical for maintaining maximum mobility.
