Helms
Ground is a defensive helm runeword in Diablo 2 Resurrected introduced in Patch 2.6 that specializes in lightning resistance and absorption. Created with Shael + Io + Ort in any 3-socket helm, it's designed to protect against the game's most dangerous lightning enemies.
Lightning Protection
Ground provides Lightning Resist +40-60% and the rare Lightning Absorb +10-15% modifier. Lightning Absorb converts a percentage of incoming lightning damage (after resistance is applied) into direct healing, making this especially powerful against Gloams, Tainted, Lightning Enchanted uniques, and lightning-heavy bosses like Diablo and Mephisto. The absorption mechanic is uncommon at this level—the next lowest item with this stat is Thundergod's Vigor belt at level 47.
Best Uses and Bases
Use Ground as a swap helm for lightning-heavy areas like Worldstone Keep or Ancient Tunnels, or equip it on mercenaries for consistent protection. The helm also provides +20% Faster Hit Recovery, +75-100% Enhanced Defense, +10 to Vitality, and Increase Maximum Life 5%. Barbarians and Druids should use class-specific helms with +skills. All three runes drop from Nightmare Countess.
