Wolfhowl is a unique Fury Visor barbarian helm in Diablo 2 Resurrected that enables one of the game's most distinctive builds—the Werewolf Barbarian, or "Wolfbarb." This elite helm grants Barbarians access to three Druid shapeshifting skills, creating a hybrid playstyle that combines the Barbarian's powerful warcries with a Druid's werewolf form.

Werewolf Transformation

Wolfhowl provides +120-150% Enhanced Defense, +2-3 to Warcries (Barbarian Only), +3-6 to Feral Rage, +3-6 to Lycanthropy, +3-6 to Werewolf, +8-15 to Strength, +8-15 to Dexterity, +8-15 to Vitality, and Level 15 Summon Dire Wolf (18 charges). The helm transforms Barbarians into werewolves, granting access to Feral Rage as the primary attack skill while maintaining Battle Orders, Battle Command, and other warcries.

The Wolfbarb Build

Wolfhowl enables a unique build with exceptional survivability:

  • High Life Pool - Battle Orders combined with Lycanthropy can push life totals to 7,000-8,000+
  • Fast Attack Speed - Werewolf form provides significant IAS bonuses, allowing slower weapons to hit breakpoints
  • Built-in Leech - Feral Rage provides massive life leech, stacking with equipment
  • Versatility - Saves skill points on combat skills, allowing investment in masteries and Find Item for horking

Ideal weapon setups include Grief or Beast in main hand, with dual-wielding options. The high level requirement of 79 means this is strictly an endgame build.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Wolfbarbs excel at sustained physical damage with incredible durability. The combination of massive life, constant leech, and warcry buffs makes them nearly unkillable in PvM. However, they're outclassed by specialized Barbarian builds like Whirlwind or Frenzy for pure damage output, and the 174 strength requirement limits stat flexibility. Wolfhowl is more of a fun novelty build than a competitive meta choice.

Socketing

Socket options depend on needs—Cham for Cannot Be Frozen, ED/Str jewels to meet gear requirements, or IAS jewels to reach attack speed breakpoints.
