Visceratuant is a unique Defender (Exceptional shield) designed for Sorceresses. Requiring level 28, this Exceptional-tier shield combines solid blocking mechanics with a skill bonus and lightning retaliation that makes it a niche option for mid-game Lightning Sorceresses.

Sorceress Skill Bonus

The standout feature is +1 To Sorceress Skill Levels, which boosts all Sorceress skills and synergies. This makes Visceratuant one of the few shields that benefits casters with direct skill bonuses. The shield also provides Attacker Takes Lightning Damage of 10, which can add chip damage when enemies hit you, though this is rarely impactful in practice.

Strong Blocking Capability

With +100-150% Enhanced Defense, 30% Increased Chance of Blocking, and 30% Faster Block Rate, Visceratuant offers excellent defensive stats for an Exceptional shield. Paladins can reach 70% base block, while even Sorceresses achieve 60%. However, Sorceresses rarely invest heavily in blocking builds, preferring Energy Shield or simply avoiding damage. While the +1 skills is attractive, Sorceresses usually prefer Spirit runeword for its +2 skills, FCR, and FHR, or Stormshield for pure defense. Visceratuant serves as a decent mid-game option but is typically replaced once better alternatives become available.
