Viperfork

Manacatcher

Viperfork is an elite unique Mancatcher with a poison-focused design that unfortunately falls short of practical viability in Diablo 2 Resurrected. Despite being the only unique weapon with Poison Explosion on striking, its damage output and utility can't compete with better alternatives.

Poison Theme Gone Wrong

Viperfork offers +190-240% Enhanced Damage, 50% Increased Attack Speed, and +325 Poison Damage over 10 Seconds alongside +30-50% Poison Resistance. The unique gimmick is its 15% Chance to Cast Level 9 Poison Explosion on Striking—a mod found nowhere else in the game. The problem? Poison Explosion is one of the weakest skills in Diablo 2, and the proc chance is too low to matter. The poison damage itself is mediocre, and poison builds face severe limitations against poison-immune monsters in Hell difficulty.

Outclassed Competition

When compared to other elite spears, Viperfork simply doesn't measure up. Arioc's Needle has better damage, Deadly Strike, ITD, and skills bonuses. Upgraded Hone Sundan crushes Viperfork in practical damage output thanks to Crushing Blow and sockets. Even for poison-themed builds, there are superior options that don't sacrifice raw killing power. The Mancatcher base has decent attack speed, but that's not enough to salvage this weapon's poor stat distribution.

Skip This One

Viperfork is essentially a collector's item—interesting for its unique Poison Explosion mod but impractical for actual gameplay. The poison damage can't handle Hell difficulty efficiently, the proc skill is worthless, and the base damage is nothing special. If you're building a poison character, use Poison Facets and focus on skills like Poison Nova or Poison Javelin instead. This spear has no real use case beyond Holy Grail completion. Save your inventory space for weapons that actually contribute to your character's power.
