Treads of Cthon are unique Chain Boots that serve as a reliable early-game footwear option in Diablo 2 Resurrected. These boots shine during the challenging early Acts when stamina management becomes crucial and faster movement speed can mean the difference between survival and death.

Best Uses & Level Range

With a Required Level of 15 and minimal strength requirement of 30, Treads of Cthon become available during late Normal difficulty. The 30% Faster Run/Walk and 50% Slower Stamina Drain make these boots particularly valuable for:

• All classes from levels 15-30 who need mobility without sacrificing defensive stats
• Sorceresses and Necromancers who benefit from faster positioning before acquiring Teleport
• Melee characters navigating large areas in Acts 2 and 3

When to Replace

Treads of Cthon should be replaced once you find boots offering resistances or other utility bonuses. Common upgrades include Tearhaunch (level 29) for balanced stats and resistances, or War Traveler (level 42) for magic find builds. By Nightmare difficulty, most players will have outgrown these boots in favor of items providing resistance or specialized bonuses.

Availability

These boots drop commonly from Normal difficulty Mephisto and can be found throughout Normal and Nightmare progression. They hold no meaningful trade value and are best used as a self-found quality-of-life improvement during the leveling process.
