Thunderstroke is an elite Amazon-only Matriarchal Javelin that specializes in single-target boss destruction through Charged Strike. With +2-4 to Javelin and Spear Skills, Adds 1-511 Lightning Damage, and the unique -15% to Enemy Lightning Resistance modifier, this level 69 weapon trades the quality-of-life features of Titan's Revenge for raw lightning damage and boss-melting potential.

Boss Killer Specialist

Thunderstroke's defining feature is its ability to obliterate single targets. The massive lightning damage range combined with reduced enemy resistance makes Charged Strike hit exponentially harder—critical for farming Ubers, Baal, or Diablo Clone. The 20% Chance to Cast Level 14 Lightning on Striking adds additional burst damage, while 15% Increased Attack Speed helps reach faster breakpoints. The +3 to Lightning Bolt is a legacy mod with minimal impact (Lightning Bolt is rarely used), but the overall package focuses purely on maximizing lightning damage output.

Trade-offs vs Titan's Revenge

The eternal debate: Thunderstroke versus Titan's Revenge. For general farming and clear speed, Titan's wins decisively due to its self-replenishment, larger stack size, run/walk speed, and attribute bonuses. Thunderstroke's small 80-stack and lack of replenishment means frequent town trips to repair. However, for PvP or pure boss-killing with Charged Strike, Thunderstroke's damage output is unmatched. The practical solution most players adopt: use Titan's for farming and mapping, keep Thunderstroke on weapon swap specifically for bosses or dueling.

Synergy with Conviction & Sunder Charms

Thunderstroke pairs exceptionally well with Infinity runeword on your mercenary (providing Conviction aura) or Sunder Charms from patch 2.4+. The -15% Lightning Resistance stacks multiplicatively with these sources, pushing enemy lightning resistance deep into negative territory and causing Charged Strike to deal absurd damage. Combined with Griffon's Eye and Lightning Facets, Thunderstroke becomes the centerpiece of specialized boss-killing Charged Strike builds.

Value

Perfect rolls with +4 skills and high +200% Enhanced Damage are expensive, commanding high rune trades. Even mediocre rolls perform well for boss-killing since the lightning resistance reduction is fixed at -15% regardless. For dedicated Charged Strike builds or PvP Javazons, Thunderstroke is essential endgame gear.
