The Iron Jang Bong

The Iron Jang Bong is a normal unique War Staff with one of the best names in Diablo 2 Resurrected and the only source of +3 to Nova for Sorceresses. Despite its interesting stats, it's outclassed by common runewords before it becomes useful.

Nova and Blaze Focus

The Iron Jang Bong provides +1 to Sorceress Skill Levels, +3 to Nova, +3 to Blaze, and 20% Faster Cast Rate. It also includes +30-40% Enhanced Damage, +50% Bonus to Attack Rating, Adds 1-25 Lightning Damage, and +25 Defense. The FCR is valuable, and the Nova bonus is unique, but the enhanced damage and attack rating are wasted on Sorceresses who don't engage in melee combat.

Impractical Design

By the time you can equip The Iron Jang Bong, the Leaf runeword provides better fire damage and the Spirit combination offers superior all-around stats. Nova builds are niche and typically want higher +skills bonuses than what this staff provides. The Blaze boost gained relevance after patch 2.4 changes, but even with improvements, this staff can't compete with endgame gear. The attack-focused stats are completely wasted on casters, making half the item's modifiers irrelevant.

Memorable Name, Forgettable Stats

The Iron Jang Bong deserves recognition for its excellent name (referencing a Hapkido martial arts weapon) and unique Nova bonus, but that's where the praise ends. It's not worth using over runewords, it's not worth upgrading, and it's not worth keeping in your stash. File this under interesting trivia rather than practical gear. If you find one, appreciate the name, then vendor it and move on with your life.
