The Dragon Chang

The Dragon Chang is a unique Spear in Diablo 2 Resurrected designed for very early gameplay. Available at level 8 with minimal stat requirements, this normal-tier weapon provides a brief window of usefulness for characters starting their journey through Normal difficulty.

Early Game Utility

The weapon features +100% Damage to Undead, making it effective against the undead enemies prevalent in Act 1. With +10 to Minimum Damage and Adds 3-6 Fire Damage, it provides consistent offense for its level range. The +35 to Attack Rating helps ensure hits connect against early Normal difficulty monsters. Requiring only 20 dexterity and no strength, it's accessible to nearly any class.

Replacement Timeline

The Dragon Chang serves well only through early Act 1, roughly levels 8-15. By late Act 1 or early Act 2, its low base damage becomes problematic even with the enhanced damage against undead. Simple runewords like Steel or leveling rares will quickly outperform it. While upgradeable to War Spear and eventually Hyperion Spear, the investment isn't worthwhile when better options emerge naturally through progression.
