The strength bonus helps meet equipment requirements for other gear.

Frenzy Barbarians

Some Frenzy builds utilize The Cranium Basher for its Crushing Blow, though the slow base speed makes it less optimal than faster weapon choices. The build typically requires substantial IAS investment from other gear slots.

Concentration Barbarians

Concentration Barbarians can leverage the weapon's massive damage alongside the Crushing Blow for hybrid physical/CB damage output. The Indestructible property eliminates durability concerns during extended boss fights.

Drawbacks & Alternatives

The Thunder Maul base type has one of the slowest attack speeds in the game (base speed [20]). Even with 20% IAS on the weapon, reaching acceptable attack rates requires heavy investment in off-weapon IAS from gloves, armor, and other sources. This limits build flexibility.

The 253 strength requirement, while partially offset by the +25 strength bonus, still demands significant stat allocation that could otherwise go to vitality. The weapon being two-handed prevents shield use, reducing defensive options.
