Stormspire

Stormspire is a unique Giant Thresher that fills an awkward niche - it provides caster stats on a two-handed melee weapon. The 50% Faster Cast Rate and +3 to Lightning Skills (Sorceress Only) attempt to create a melee-caster hybrid that doesn't really work.

The Hybrid Paradox

Sorceresses need FCR to reach the 105% or 200% breakpoints for optimal casting. Stormspire provides 50% FCR, but being two-handed prevents using a shield (another 35% from Spirit) or second weapon (35% from Spirit weapon). This means you'd need 55-150% FCR from other gear slots to reach good breakpoints, which is difficult and inefficient.

Melee Sorceress Dreams

The weapon attempts to enable melee Sorceresses with its lightning damage procs and Indestructible property. However, Sorceresses have terrible attack speed with polearms, low life/defense, and no melee skills. Building a melee Sorceress means abandoning everything that makes the class effective. The +20% Regenerate Mana and +30% Maximum Mana help sustain casting, but not enough to justify the weapon slot.

Reality Check

Stormspire exists as a curiosity for experimental builds but has no practical application. Sorceresses should use Spirit, Heart of the Oak, or Eschuta's for proper casting, while melee characters should use weapons designed for their classes. If you find one, sell it to collectors or vendors.
