Spire of Honor is an exceptional unique Lance designed specifically for Paladins, though its two-handed nature creates an awkward conflict with the Paladin's shield-dependent playstyle. This spear offers solid Paladin-specific bonuses but struggles to find a home in most builds.

A Paladin Paradox

Spire of Honor provides +3 to Combat Skills for Paladins, +150-200% Enhanced Damage, and unique scaling demon damage that reaches +148% Damage to Demons at level 99. It also grants 20% Faster Hit Recovery, Replenish Life +20, and defensive bonuses. The problem? As a two-handed weapon, it prevents Paladins from using shields—a critical component for most Paladin builds that rely on Holy Shield, Smite, or blocking mechanics.

Charge Paladin's Option

The only Paladin build that realistically uses Spire of Honor is Charge-focused, since Charge doesn't require attack speed or blocking and benefits from the weapon's large damage range. Even then, better options exist: upgraded ethereal versions or superior two-handed weapons generally outperform it. The slow base attack speed of lances makes it unsuitable for Zeal or Vengeance builds, which prefer faster weapons and the defensive security of shields.

Limited Appeal

While Spire of Honor can be upgraded to War Pike via Horadric Cube for increased damage, the fundamental problem remains—Paladins simply don't want to give up their shields. This spear is occasionally used by newer players experimenting with two-handed Paladin builds, but it's quickly replaced once better options are discovered. The scaling demon damage is interesting but not enough to overcome the loss of blocking and shield skills. Consider this a novelty item unless you're committed to an unconventional Charge Paladin.
