Rockfleece is a unique field plate in Diablo 2 Resurrected focused purely on physical damage mitigation. Available at level 28, this armor combines percentage-based and flat damage reduction with high defense, though its lack of offensive or elemental properties limits its appeal.

Physical Damage Reduction

Rockfleece stacks multiple forms of damage reduction: 10% Physical Damage Received Reduced and Damage Reduced by 5. This combination makes it effective against physical attackers in Normal and early Nightmare difficulty. The +100-130% Enhanced Defense provides solid protection, while +5 to Strength helps meet equipment requirements. The Requirements -10% reduces the base 55 strength requirement to approximately 50.

Narrow Utility

The armor's singular focus on physical defense creates significant limitations. It offers zero elemental resistances, leaving characters vulnerable to spells and elemental damage that become increasingly prevalent in Nightmare and Hell. The lack of offensive modifiers provides no sustain, speed, or damage benefits. While percentage-based damage reduction scales well theoretically, the 10% reduction becomes less impactful as enemy damage increases through difficulties. Rockfleece can be upgraded to Sharktooth Armor and Kraken Shell for higher defense, but the core issue remains: sacrificing an armor slot for purely physical defense rarely justifies passing on versatile alternatives like Smoke runeword or resistance-focused armors that provide more balanced protection.
