Rainbow Facet
Jewel
Required Level: 49100% Chance to Cast Level 51 Poison Nova When You Die+37 Poison Damage Over 2 Seconds+3-5% to Poison Skill Damage-(3-5)% to Enemy Poison ResistanceThe Rainbow Facet (Poison - Die) is a powerful unique jewel designed specifically for poison damage builds in Diablo 2 Resurrected. This jewel provides two critical bonuses: +3-5% to Poison Skill Damage and -(3-5)% to Enemy Poison Resistance, making it essential for maximizing poison damage output against resistant enemies. However, its 100% Chance to Cast Level 51 Poison Nova When You Die proc makes it the less desirable variant compared to the level-up version.
Why Poison Facets Matter
The true value of Rainbow Facets lies in stacking -% to Enemy Poison Resistance. In Hell difficulty, many enemies have substantial poison resistance or complete immunity, making resistance reduction absolutely crucial for poison builds. When combined with the Rotting Fissure sunder charm (which breaks poison immunity by reducing it to 95%), poison facets become exponentially more effective by further reducing that resistance.
A perfect 5/5 poison facet (5% damage, -5% enemy resistance) commands significant trading value, especially for the level-up variant. Multiple facets can be socketed into different gear pieces, with their resistance reduction stacking additively for devastating results.
Best Builds & Socketing Locations
Poison Nova Necromancers benefit most from poison facets, as Poison Nova deals massive area-of-effect damage that scales dramatically with resistance reduction. Rabies Druids also utilize poison facets effectively for their plague-spreading playstyle.
Optimal socketing locations include:
- Death's Web - The best-in-slot wand already provides -40-50% enemy poison resistance; adding a facet further amplifies poison damage
- Bramble - This runeword armor grants +50% poison skill damage, making facets socketed here extremely effective
- Trang-Oul's Wing - The helm from Trang-Oul's set can be socketed via Larzuk quest or cube recipe
- Monarch shields - 4-socket monarchs with four 5/5 poison facets provide -20% enemy poison resistance
Die vs Level-Up Variant
While both variants provide identical damage and resistance bonuses, the die variant triggers only when you die, making it significantly less useful than the level-up version which activates regularly during gameplay. Consequently, die variants typically trade for 30-50% less than their level-up counterparts. Most experienced players prefer level-up facets unless budget constraints require compromise.
