Ironstone is a unique War Hammer in Diablo 2 Resurrected that serves as a basic two-handed weapon for mid-Normal difficulty. This hammer provides straightforward damage bonuses without any standout features, making it a temporary placeholder until better options become available.

Basic Stats

Ironstone offers +60% Enhanced Damage, +50% Damage to Undead, and +80 to Attack Rating, providing adequate offense for levels 25-35. The weapon adds 1-10 Lightning Damage, though the lightning damage range is negligible. Unfortunately, it carries -5 to Dexterity, which slightly reduces your block chance and attack rating.

Limited Appeal

As a two-handed weapon with modest damage, Ironstone competes unfavorably against dual-wielding setups or sword alternatives. The dexterity penalty makes it even less attractive for characters who rely on blocking. Most players skip this weapon entirely in favor of runewords like Steel or Spirit, which provide better bonuses at similar level requirements.

Quick Replacement

If you find Ironstone early, it can carry you through a few levels, but actively farming for it makes little sense. By the time you're level 25, you should be transitioning to Bonesnap for Crushing Blow, or crafting runewords that scale better into Nightmare difficulty. Ironstone belongs in the "use if found, don't seek out" category of unique items.
