With a requirement of only level 5 and no strength requirement, these boots provide accessible survivability during the challenging early acts of Normal and Nightmare difficulty.

Early Game Fire Protection

The primary appeal of Hotspur lies in its impressive Fire Resist +45% combined with +15% to Maximum Fire Resist, allowing players to reach the fire resistance cap of 90% at very low levels. This makes them particularly valuable when facing fire-based enemies and bosses like Andariel in Act 1 or during early Nightmare progression.

The boots also provide +15 to Life and Adds 3-6 Fire Damage, offering modest offensive and defensive boosts suitable for the level range where they're typically used.

Best Uses & When to Replace

Hotspur is especially popular in Hardcore mode, where the fire resistance can be life-saving during levels 5-30. All classes benefit equally from the resistances, making them a universal early game option. The boots are commonly found while progressing through Normal difficulty, with Coldcrow in Cave Level 1 and Blood Raven offering decent drop rates.

Players typically replace Hotspur once they reach Nightmare or Hell difficulty and acquire better boots like Waterwalk, War Traveler, or Sandstorm Trek. While useful for their fire resistance during early progression, they have no meaningful trade value and are considered temporary leveling gear.
