Gut Siphon is an elite unique Demon Crossbow in Diablo 2 Resurrected that positions itself as a life-leeching alternative to other elite crossbows. However, this level 71 weapon struggles to justify its existence in the endgame meta.

Life Leech Focus

The primary feature is 12-18% Life Stolen per Hit, providing substantial sustain for physical damage builds. Combined with 33% Chance of Open Wounds and Slows Target by 25%, Gut Siphon offers crowd control and damage-over-time effects. The +160-220% Enhanced Damage is respectable, and 33% Piercing Attack allows for some multi-target capability.

Underwhelming Reality

Despite the solid stats on paper, Gut Siphon faces multiple problems. The Demon Crossbow base is very fast (-60 speed) but lacks the raw damage output needed for Hell difficulty. The 141 Strength requirement and 98 Dexterity requirement are steep, and the weapon lacks any +skills, elemental damage, or unique mechanics that define better options. Most critically, by level 71, any character serious about ranged combat has access to superior alternatives including Faith, Windforce, upgraded Buriza, or Demon Machine for specialized builds.

Final Verdict

Gut Siphon occupies an unfortunate space in the unique crossbow lineup—outclassed by Buriza-Do Kyanon for general use, Demon Machine for specialized builds, and completely overshadowed by endgame runewords. While the life leech is useful, it's insufficient to make this weapon competitive for the content where you'd realistically obtain it. This crossbow is best considered a stepping stone to true endgame gear rather than a destination weapon.
