Gleamscythe is a unique normal Falchion that represents another low-tier early-game weapon in Diablo 2 Resurrected. While it provides decent damage for its level, the complete absence of any interesting mechanics or utility stats relegates it to immediate vendor trash status for most players.

Pure Damage, Nothing Else

Gleamscythe focuses entirely on physical damage without any defensive stats, utility bonuses, or special effects. The enhanced damage and increased attack speed provide adequate DPS for level 13, but without leech, crushing blow, or resistances, it offers nothing to help characters survive combat.

The Falchion base type has no special weapon speed modifiers, making it exactly average in terms of attack speed. Even with the increased attack speed modifier from the unique properties, the weapon doesn't attack notably faster than competing options at this level.

Outclassed Immediately

By level 13, players typically have access to Steel or Strength runewords, both of which provide superior damage and additional useful stats. Even well-rolled rare swords at this level often surpass Gleamscythe's offensive capabilities while offering resistances or other benefits.

The weapon has no niche use cases. It's not good for casters due to lacking any caster stats. It's not good for physical builds because better options exist. It's not good for mercenaries because they benefit more from weapons with special effects or utility bonuses.

Forgettable Design

Gleamscythe exemplifies uninspired unique design. It doesn't have variable rolls to make finds exciting. It doesn't have unusual mechanics to enable creative builds. It doesn't even have enough damage to serve as a legitimate weapon upgrade for the brief level range where characters can equip it.

Most players who see Gleamscythe drop either leave it on the ground or vendor it without a second thought. The only people who care about this sword are Holy Grail collectors checking it off their completion list, and even they acknowledge it's one of the least interesting items in the game.
