This level 49 weapon combines Piercing Attack with Fires Explosive Bolts [Level 6], creating a unique interaction that makes it one of the best weapons for fire-damage-stacking strategies.
Explosive Piercing Synergy
Demon Machine is one of only two ranged weapons in the game featuring both explosive projectiles and piercing simultaneously (the other being Kuko Shakaku). The 66% Piercing Attack allows bolts to pass through enemies while each hit triggers an area-of-effect explosion. This creates multiple explosive procs per shot when enemies are lined up, dramatically multiplying damage output.
Enchantress Applications
The weapon truly shines when combined with Enchant skill or Holy Fire aura. As of patch 2.6, the explosive bolts benefit from added fire damage multiple times—once on hit and again on explosion, essentially "quadruple dipping" the fire damage bonus. A Sorceress with high-level Enchant can use Demon Machine to solo most game content, dealing devastating fire damage to packed monster groups.
Stats & Performance
With +123% Enhanced Damage, +66 to Maximum Damage, and +632 to Attack Rating, Demon Machine has solid physical damage for an exceptional crossbow. The +321 Defense and +36 to Mana provide useful defensive stats. The Chu-Ko-Nu base has a very fast attack speed (-60), making it naturally quick-firing. Due to its specialized role, upgrading to elite is generally not recommended as the marginal physical damage gain doesn't justify the increased strength requirement.
