Darksight Helm is a unique Basinet in Diablo 2 Resurrected offering one of only two helm sources of Cannot Be Frozen in the game. This exceptional-tier helmet combines the invaluable freeze immunity with Cloak of Shadows charges and defensive bonuses, though its high strength requirement and limited offensive stats restrict its practical applications.

Cannot Be Frozen

The helm's most significant feature is Cannot Be Frozen, preventing cold-based slowing effects that can otherwise cripple melee characters. This modifier appears on only two unique helms in the game: Darksight Helm and the Kira's Guardian. The only alternative source requires socketing a Cham rune, making Darksight Helm an accessible option for players who need freeze immunity before obtaining expensive endgame solutions like Ravenfrost or Cham-socketed gear.

Cloak of Shadows & Dim Vision

The helm provides Level 5 Cloak of Shadows (30 Charges), an Assassin skill that blinds nearby enemies and reduces their defense by 27%. This proves useful for melee characters facing ranged attackers, though the limited charges require frequent repairs. The 6% Chance to Cast Level 3 Dim Vision When Struck offers additional crowd control by blinding attackers, but the low level and proc chance make it unreliable in practice.

Additional Stats

Darksight Helm grants +(2 Per Character Level) +2-198 Defense, scaling from 77-282 defense at level 99. The Fire Resist +20-40% provides moderate elemental protection, while 5% Mana Stolen per Hit adds sustain for physical attackers. The -4 to Light Radius darkens your screen, an aesthetic annoyance that some players find immersion-breaking.

Practical Limitations

The 82 strength requirement severely limits Darksight Helm's accessibility, particularly for casters and Dexterity-focused builds who must invest heavily in strength just to equip it. Most builds prefer alternative Cannot Be Frozen sources: Ravenfrost (more accessible, adds other bonuses), Rhyme runeword shield (cheap and effective), or waiting for endgame solutions. The lack of skill bonuses, life leech, or significant offensive stats makes Darksight Helm a purely defensive choice that struggles to justify its gear slot against helms with better all-around utility.
