Culwen's Point

Culwen's Point

War Sword

Culwen's Point is a unique normal War Sword that stands out among low-level unique swords by offering +1 to All Skills in Diablo 2 Resurrected. This makes it one of the few weapons available before Nightmare difficulty that boosts skill levels, creating niche value for specific builds despite its overall mediocrity.

The Skills Advantage

What distinguishes Culwen's Point from other normal unique swords is the all skills bonus, a stat rarely found on level 29 equipment. For hybrid builds that rely on both physical attacks and skills, this bonus provides meaningful value that pure damage weapons cannot match.

The +70-80% Enhanced Damage, 20% Increased Attack Speed, and +60 to Attack Rating deliver solid physical combat performance. The 20% Faster Hit Recovery improves survivability during combat, while Poison Length Reduced by 50% provides minor quality of life against poison-dealing enemies.

Niche Applications

The all skills bonus makes Culwen's Point particularly interesting for Paladins using auras while maintaining melee combat, Druids leveling through summon or elemental builds, or Barbarians who want to boost war cries and combat skills simultaneously. These characters benefit from the skill boost more than they would from slightly higher pure damage.

However, the level 29 requirement and steep attribute requirements (71 strength, 45 dexterity) limit accessibility. By the time most characters can equip Culwen's Point, they're approaching Nightmare difficulty where significantly better options become available.

Transitional Weapon

Culwen's Point works best as a transitional weapon during late Normal and early Nightmare difficulty. It fills the gap between early-game garbage and proper endgame equipment, providing adequate performance while offering the unique benefit of skill levels that most weapons at this tier lack.

The weapon can be upgraded to Ancient Sword (exceptional) and eventually Mythical Sword (elite), but the upgrade requirements become prohibitive. By the time characters would benefit from the elite version, they should already have access to Heart of the Oak or other superior runewords that make upgraded Culwen's Point irrelevant.

Most players who find Culwen's Point use it briefly if it fits their build, then replace it when better options appear. It's not exciting enough to build around, but competent enough to use when nothing better is available.
