Boneflesh is a unique plate mail in Diablo 2 Resurrected designed for melee sustainability. Available at level 26, this heavy armor combines life leech with open wounds, creating a solid option for physical damage dealers progressing through late Normal and early Nightmare difficulties.

Melee Survival Tools

Boneflesh provides 5% Life Stolen Per Hit, enabling melee characters to sustain through combat without relying on potions. The 25% Chance of Open Wounds applies a damage-over-time bleed effect that proves particularly effective against high-health targets and bosses. Combined with +100-120% Enhanced Defense, the armor offers substantial protection for its level. The +35 to Attack Rating provides modest accuracy improvement.

Best Applications

This armor excels on melee characters like Barbarians, Paladins, and Zealots during levels 26-40 who need both survivability and damage. The open wounds modifier shines against bosses like Duriel, Mephisto, and early Nightmare act bosses. Mercenaries also benefit significantly from the life leech and defensive stats. However, the 65 strength requirement and heavy armor classification impose movement speed penalties. Boneflesh can be upgraded to Templar Coat and Hellforge Plate, with the exceptional upgrade being highly recommended for substantially improved defense. While eventually replaced by runewords or exceptional uniques, Boneflesh remains one of the strongest leveling armors for melee builds in its level range.
