Boneflame is an elite Succubus Skull that attempts to balance offensive and defensive properties for Necromancers. This unique shield bridges the gap between the pure skill focus of Darkforce Spawn and the defensive excellence of Homunculus, though it struggles to carve out a meaningful niche.

Balanced Stats

Boneflame provides +2-3 to Necromancer Skill Levels, making it competitive with Homunculus for overall skill bonuses. The +20-30 All Resistances offers decent elemental protection, while +20% Faster Run/Walk provides valuable mobility. The 15% Chance to Cast Level 3 Terror When Struck is a defensive proc that can cause enemies to flee, though its effectiveness is situational at best.

The Homunculus Comparison

Boneflame's 30% blocking chance is better than Darkforce Spawn but still far below Homunculus's 72%. While it can match or slightly exceed Homunculus in skill bonuses with a +3 roll, it lacks the mana regeneration, life after kill, and higher blocking that make Homunculus so universally useful. The higher level requirement of 72 also means most Necromancers will have already found Homunculus before they can even equip Boneflame.

Limited Appeal

Boneflame works best on Necromancer builds that value the faster run/walk speed for farming efficiency and don't rely heavily on blocking. The all resist bonus is convenient but not unique enough to justify choosing Boneflame over Homunculus. Most players will find that Homunculus's superior defensive stats outweigh any minor skill or resistance advantages Boneflame might offer.

Trade Value

Due to low demand and Homunculus's dominance, Boneflame typically trades for minimal value. Even perfect rolls with +3 skills and maximum resistances struggle to attract buyers. It's best viewed as a collector's item or temporary placeholder while farming for Homunculus rather than an endgame shield choice.
