Blackleach Blade

The +(1.25 Per Character Level) to Maximum Damage means it gains 1-123 extra damage at level 99, though most players replace it long before reaching that point.
Scaling Damage System
The scaling mechanic provides increasing returns - at level 50 you gain +62 max damage, at level 70 it's +87. Combined with +100-140% Enhanced Damage, this creates respectable DPS for Nightmare difficulty. The 8% Life Stolen Per Hit ensures sustainable combat without potion spam.
Mercenary Usage
Blackleach Blade works better on Act 2 mercenaries than player characters since mercenaries level alongside you and benefit from the scaling throughout Nightmare. The Requirements -25% makes it easier to equip, and the 5% Weaken proc occasionally reduces enemy damage.
Use this weapon from levels 42-55 while progressing through Nightmare. Replace it once you can make Insight runeword or find elite unique polearms. The scaling damage isn't strong enough to justify keeping it into Hell difficulty.
