Diablo 2 Reign of the Warlock - First Major Update in Years

The update we have all been waiting for

OH MY LORD OF DESTRUCTION! It is finally here! Our favourite game has finally gotten an update after almost 3 years! And what an update that is. A brand new class, new end game content, quality of life features and more. Let's get into the new changes straight away.

New Class: The Warlock

The Warlock - new Diablo 2 Resurrected class

The headline feature of this update is a brand new playable class — the Warlock. This dark caster wields chaotic hellfire magic and commands the forces of hell itself.

The Warlock can summon three distinct demons: the Goat, the Tainted, and the Defiler. Each demon brings unique strengths to the battlefield. But summoning is only the beginning.

With the Bind ability, the Warlock can bind to one demon at a time, strengthening both the demon and the hero simultaneously. Alternatively, the Consume ability allows the Warlock to absorb a demon's assets entirely, gaining temporary buffs and traits that vary depending on the demon consumed. These can include bonuses to life, movement speed, +to all skills, and even auras.

Terror Zones Revamped

Terror Zones are getting a massive overhaul. Players can now earn consumables that let them choose which act becomes terrorized. While an act is terrorized, every zone within it becomes supercharged with stronger monsters and better rewards. These consumables are fully tradeable, opening up new possibilities for the in-game economy.

Heralds of Terror

Herald of Terror - new elite monster type in Diablo 2 Resurrected

In Hell difficulty, terrorized zones now spawn Heralds of Terror — extremely dangerous monsters that are extra difficult to kill. As the fight goes on, they become exponentially more difficult to take down. These encounters will push even the most geared characters to their limits.

Colossal Ancients

A brand new endgame challenge awaits. By killing terrorized bosses, players can find statues. Collect and combine all five statues to unlock the Colossal Ancients — a brutal boss encounter where when one Ancient falls, another rises to take its place.

Quality of Life

Loot Filters

Loot Filter interface in Diablo 2 Resurrected

One of the most requested features is finally here — loot filters, built directly into the game. Players can create their own custom filter profiles, share them with friends, and browse community-driven filters. No more squinting at the ground trying to spot that Ber rune among a pile of junk.

Additional Stash Tabs

The stash has been completely revamped with 5 shared tabs and 1 personal tab. On top of that, dedicated tabs for gems, runes, and materials now allow these items to stack, freeing up an enormous amount of storage space. Mule characters, your days are numbered.

The Chronicle — Grail Tracker

The Chronicle - built-in grail tracker in Diablo 2 Resurrected

A full grail tracker is now built into the game, called The Chronicle. It tracks your collection progress across uniques, sets, and runewords, and comes with search functionality, filters, and even rewards for completing milestones. No more spreadsheets needed.

New Items

This update brings over 30 new items to the game, including new uniques, runewords, and more. Among the new additions are unique items like Opalvein and Hellwarden's Will, as well as a new runeword called Void. We'll be updating our runewords database and uniques database with all the new items very soon.
